Drive Forward Lane County was founded to provide financial assistance for essential vehicle repairs that help individuals maintain employment, seek employment, attend school, or continue significant volunteer work.

You must currently live in Lane County, Oregon, to qualify for assistance. Repair assistance is available only to residents of Lane County, Oregon.

Drive Forward Lane County is currently in the early stages of fundraising and grant development. We do not currently have dedicated funding available for vehicle repairs.

Applications may still be submitted. Any potential assistance is considered on a case-by-case basis and depends on whether donated funds, parts, labor, or other resources can be obtained for that specific situation.

Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance. Applications are reviewed individually based on eligibility, the circumstances of the request, and whether resources can be located for that specific situation. If we believe we may be able to pursue resources for your situation, we will contact you.

We understand how hard you may be working — and how difficult it can be when reliable transportation stands between you and your job, education, or the opportunity to serve your community. An unexpected vehicle repair should not have to be the event that unravels the stability you have worked to build. Please read the following information before submitting your application.

Assistance, if it becomes possible, may be arranged directly with approved repair facilities through donated or discounted resources DFLC is able to secure for each case.

Repair assistance is subject to program policies and eligibility.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

You must currently live in Lane County, Oregon, to qualify for assistance. Repair assistance is available only to residents of Lane County, Oregon.

Demonstrate financial need.

Own the vehicle or be the primary authorized driver.

Have a valid driver's license.

Need reliable transportation to maintain employment, seek employment, attend school/college/vocational training, participate in a workforce development program, or perform significant volunteer work that benefits the community.

Require an essential repair needed to restore safe and reliable transportation.

Repairs That May Qualify

Drive Forward Lane County is currently focused on smaller essential repairs that may realistically be supported through donated funds, parts, labor, or other case-specific resources. Examples include:

Brake components

Batteries

Starters

Alternators

Wheel bearings and hubs

Thermostats, hoses, and smaller cooling-system components

Smaller steering or suspension components

Diagnostics directly related to a potential repair

Other essential repairs considered on a case-by-case basis

Major repairs or repairs requiring high-cost components are generally outside the scope of our current assistance efforts.

Routine maintenance alone is generally not eligible unless it is necessary to restore safe and reliable transportation.

Required Documents

Applicants should be prepared to provide:

Completed application

Valid driver's license

Vehicle registration or title (or proof of authorized use)

Proof of current Lane County residence

Documentation showing current employment, job search/interview, job offer, school enrollment, workforce development participation, or significant volunteer commitment

Letter explaining why the repair is needed, how the vehicle is used, how the repair will help, and why financial assistance is needed
