What types of repairs does Drive Forward Lane County cover?

We cover essential vehicle repairs that restore or maintain safe and reliable transportation. This includes brake system repairs, batteries, starters, alternators, cooling system repairs, steering and suspension repairs, engine and transmission repairs when necessary, tires when required for safety, and related diagnostics. What repairs are NOT covered?

We do not cover luxury or exotic brand vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, etc.), commercial vehicles, salvage-title vehicles, air conditioning (unless medically required), in-car entertainment systems, cruise control, power windows (unless stuck open), cosmetic repairs, or performance upgrades. Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants must live or work in Lane County, Oregon, demonstrate financial need, own or be the primary driver of the vehicle, have a valid driver's license, and need reliable transportation to maintain employment, seek employment, attend school, participate in workforce development, or perform significant volunteer work. All eligibility requirements must be met.

How do I apply?

Visit our Apply for Assistance page and complete the online application. You'll need to provide personal information, vehicle details, a description of the repair needed, supporting documents, and a brief letter explaining your situation.

What documents do I need to provide?

Required documents include: completed application, valid driver's license, vehicle registration or title, proof of Lane County residence or employment, documentation supporting your employment/school/volunteer status, and a letter explaining why you need the repair and financial assistance. How long does the application process take?

Drive Forward Lane County is currently in its fundraising phase. Applications are accepted but will not be reviewed until sufficient funding has been secured. We appreciate your patience as we build the program.

Does applying guarantee I'll receive assistance?

No. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee assistance. Applications are reviewed based on demonstrated need, repair necessity, available funding, and approval. Assistance is subject to program policies and funding availability.

How are donations used?

Donations support Drive Forward Lane County's vehicle repair assistance program and the costs necessary to administer and operate the program. We are committed to responsible stewardship of every gift, ensuring donations are used effectively to keep Lane County residents employed, in school, and moving forward.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes! Drive Forward Lane County is a recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Official tax-deductible donation receipts are available upon request for all qualifying contributions.

How can I donate?

Can I donate car parts instead of money?

Yes! We welcome donations of vehicle parts. Please email us at driveforwardlanecounty@outlook.com to discuss what parts you'd like to donate and how to coordinate the donation.
